- SPECTRUM TRANSLUCENT GLASS
Spectrum Glass makes an incredible variety of colors and textures. Their glass is renowned for their ease of cutting- an ideal glass for the beginner. Spectrum glass has a wide range of shades and densities and their opalescent glass is broken down into three densities; opals, translucents, and wispys. The opals are denser; important where you would like to opacify light, as in a lampshade. Translucents allow more light to pass through, but not as dense as an opal. Can be used in both lampshades and windows. Think of wispys as cathedral glass with wisps of color running through them. Wispys are ideal for windows and suncatchers.
Now that Oceanside Glass & Tile has taken over the Spectrum Glass Co., they are reformulating most of their glass so that the glass has the added ability to be fusible (COE 96).
This does not affect the stained glass artist, as the glass still cuts as easily as it did before, and the appearance remains the same. The new formulation just allows the glass to be kiln-worked as well as to be used in a stained glass project. Any item code that has a suffix of "F" is now fusible.
Sizes shown below can be shipped by UPS. We will attempt to pack orders with multiple sizes of glass, but in some cases, it would be impossible to do so without creating breakage. In cases like that, different size sheets will have to ship in separate boxes.
